No idea how an illegal street racing series suddenly becomes a techno thriller with modified super fighters and an evil AI But 'Hobbs and Shaw' (2019) brings action icons like Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham together in noisy popcorn entertainment. The film therefore relies on their bulky figures and their bickering to outdo and offend each other. Real men, of course, have the emotional fragility of teenagers. Sometimes over the top or downright bizarre, but the neat action scenes and light chemistry between Hobbs/Shaw make it an entertaining sight. Although I completely forgot about it the next morning, because it brought so little news.

I went there by accident. I didn't want it at first. I did enjoy myself but I still think it's wrong to go from a car series (originally) to a normal Action movie. I also think that's stupid, because there are so many Action movies versus Autoseries where there really aren't any. In addition, I was completely annoyed by the standard Dwayne Johnson things in movies.
1. He makes a joke that is not funny and starts to smile stupidly with his teeth whitened.
2. He always acts tough to others, but then has to be the good guy.
3. The Most Annoying: There's something about his body in every movie. Either he takes off his shirt and flaunts it too much or berries are thrown at his chest. It's just damn irritating.

Delicious. Hobbs & Shaw is unpretentious entertainment with great chemistry between the protagonists, great action, lots of humor, tasty one-liners, a thin story and a fast pace. Some family ties are worked out in a number of short scenes, but fortunately this only lasts for a short time and it is brought with a lot of speed and humor.
The scene between Ryan Reynolds, Johnson and Hobbs's daughter (Sua) is a good example of this. Helen Mirren and Reynolds could have had a bigger role (perhaps in a sequel?), but I understand the focus is on Johnson, Statham and new action heroine Vanessa Kirby. Kirby holds his own between all that testosterone violence with Idris Elba as the bad guy. The story is thin, but that should not spoil the fun.
