Ugh.

I have no idea what an excuse you can offer as a director for a film like this, but as far as I'm concerned Scott can just stand in the corner with bunglers. A true torture.

I don't know the original legend of Robin Hood. There is a Disney version and the popular legend, but I can't judge how much they match the original story. As far as I'm concerned, Scott might even have stayed much closer to the original, but the result is just sad. A mix of medieval peasant drama and a battle film that leaves you cold from minute 1.

The actors are there to make money, I think the entire team behind the film had the same thought. Bandwork fights, uninteresting digressions (the entire intro of an hour can just go out without missing anything essential), visually it is extremely boring and the soundtrack also seems to come from a dusty cupboard somewhere.

The film has two beautiful scenes. The short introduction and the end credits. Knowing that these things are often simply outsourced to specialized companies these days, Scott can probably not take the credit for that either. The rest is 150 minutes of pure non-cinema, hopefully a film that will soon be forgotten.

0.5*
