Bugsy plot
"Glamour was the disguise."
Gentleman gangster Ben 'Bugsy' Siegel, along with his partners Luciano and Lansky, is in charge of the New York underworld. But the trio want more and turn their attention to Los Angeles, where Jack Dragna is in charge. He hangs out in Los Angeles because he met the beautiful Virginia Hill on the movie set. This actress is the girlfriend of Joey Adonis. Bugsy and Virginia are like fire and water, yet meant for each other. She helps him realize his dream of a beautiful hotel with casino and brothel in the Nevada desert, which will be called Flamingo. It is a money consuming and dangerous undertaking.

Beatty is the vanity itself, but that's why this role is made for him. The great acting of Bening and their chemistry adds quite a bit to that. At times, hard, but ultimately a lump in the throat about Siegel's murder. Nice character study.

The character and weaknesses of the main character are clearly outlined, even a little too caricatured in the first part of the film.

Excellent film about the charming gangster Ben Siegel who wants to build a large hotel in Las Vegas. This nicely dressed gangster movie is set in the 1940s and also looks like a gangster movie from that period. The duality of the main character is well portrayed by Warren Beatty and there is certainly chemistry between him and Annette Bening. A small 4.0 stars.
