La Famille Bélier plot
Everyone in the Bélier family is deaf. Everyone except Paula, the eldest daughter, a young student who suddenly discovers that she can sing amazingly. Despite the puberty issues she struggles with and regardless of her family's disability, Paula continues to nurture her dream and will leverage this previously unknown singing talent.

Nice movie! I find it interesting from start to finish, a nice story and well acted. "Je vole" is a beautiful and moving song, and I also really like "Je vais t'aimer". Good music is always a plus for me. I don't know many films in which deafness plays a major role, so that doesn't make the film average either. I agree that not everything is finished equally, but that didn't bother me. A bit of a coming of age film with humor and seriousness. I don't find it too sentimental and the humor suits me, so all together I give a high score. 4*

The drama of being deaf-mute in this otherwise fresh comedy that also - and to my great regret that has become very rare in the meantime - puts the French chanson back on stage in the film.
The film does have some depth in the middle part, but it more than compensates for this with a dazzling and very moving last part.
Louane Emera is a deserved César winner and Karin Viard (not really much of a farmer's wife type) and François Damiens also convince as the deaf-mute couple.
A bit coming-of-age, but ultimately a feel-goodie content of which there may be more.
