How to survive a zombie Apocalypse

Reasonable horror comedy that actually goes a bit as you expect. This is also the crux here because there are actually too few surprises left for viewers who have watched titles such as Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland. Zombies were also the theme here, and there was also a comic approach. Although I watched both films before I started writing reviews on moviemeter, I do know what this title was missing compared to at least Shaun of the Dead (zombieland is less memorable to me), and that's good humor.

Most of the jokes here are bland and predictable and also so flat that it quickly becomes banal. Falling asleep was not an option, because it all remained just interesting enough that you still wanted to see the end, but it didn't get really good anywhere.

For fans of zombie titles or people who still liked American Pie after the second part, this is fine, but for the rest I would like to advise a different interpretation of the evening.

sof.

Not a big zombie fan but I wanted to give a comedy variant a chance. Better not have done it, because this was really sad. Especially that mix with the whole high school / scouts thing makes this almost unbearable.

A bit of a shame because left and right you see a few cool gore moments. Only they are hidden in a deluge of goofy humor and annoying characters. With the low point being the Britney Spears number that goes on for far too long and where a character has to explicitly explain the joke afterwards. Mno.

When you finally see someone with a weedwacker storming into a zombie party, you know where they got the inspiration for this film. If you compare this with that inspiration, you see how badly this film falls short. Way too good, way too unfunny, way too cliché and way too much annoying American high school bullshit.

“It's the zombie apocalypse! Come on, we're scouts! We're trained for this!”

Mission accomplished. Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is an absurd and smooth horror comedy with a lot of silly humor and childish craziness. And it works, although the jokes sometimes go over the edge. But more often it is perfectly timed and genuinely funny.

The group dynamics are Scouts Guide's greatest strength, with a trio of losers and a beautiful blonde (Dumont) teaming up to fight the zombies that overrun their town. The opening scene immediately sets the tone for what to expect. There is also a coming of age story about the group of friends falling apart due to different interests, growing up, and falling in love with the beautiful girl from the school. Halston Sage plays the girl so I understand Ben (Sheridan). Otherwise a great zombie movie.
