Tillie's Punctured Romance.

A cool silent comedy by Chaplin that doesn't manage to captivate all the time.

I had bought the movie in a box from Chaplins, so I wasn't bothered by the voice over mentioned above (I can believe that makes it all more annoying). The film starts quite funny with the way Chaplin is introduced and Tillie is also perfectly cast as a fat, ugly farmer's daughter with a terrible dress by the way.

But the problem is that the film was not exactly made for this length of time. I think it would have come out better if it had lasted maybe something like 50 minutes.

All in all it is still entertaining and I can't wait to see The Kid who is also in this box.

3*

I did notice how aggressive the film actually was at times, there was quite a bit of stomping

Nice Chaplin with a lot of his typical humor, only towards the end it started to feel a bit long winded to me and that despite the short duration of the film, it costs half a star. I thought the script was remarkably well developed. Over 2.5*

During classic Sunday, the necessary rammed through Charlie Chaplin. So the idea that I might appreciate it because I love The Great Dictator is a miscalculation. Because together with three previous films I have very little with it, even though the last four were not that crazy.

But starting with this Tilly, and no this wasn't my thing. Of course, every scene with Chaplin has added value and in another role that we are used to from him, Marie Dressler is also quite strong in a role where she can go completely wild several times, such as the restaurant, and sometimes the humor is quite good. nice, but not often. Because it feels dated, is often too bland with too many Laurel and Hardy moments, scenes last too long and the same goes for the playing time, which is much too long at an hour and a quarter. It is clear that I had very little with this.
