Fans of the whodunnit may be disappointed with this Fille au Bracelet, a film that does not draw its suspense from the murder intrigue, but tells the story drop by drop through the detached elegance of the Assize trial. Very nice antidote to common law omnipresence in cinema. But the biggest mystery, the biggest enigma, remains the following question: why oh why does the character Diego, a cheerful lad from Nantes, wear an OH Leuven training vest?

Court mystery.

The drama unfolds a little too slowly perhaps. And perhaps unfolding isn't exactly the right word either. Still, it certainly never gets boring, despite the fact that the place of the act is largely in the visually very uninteresting courtroom, and not much actually happens there. The characters come out very nicely - the somewhat heavy-handed and almost hateful prosecutor of Anais Demoustier, for example, and the lawyer with the beautiful deep voice of Annie Mercier. Furthermore, a whole series of well-known French actors in the film who, without exception, do a perfect job - and fortunately are not as well known in the Netherlands as perhaps in France.

Is it all nice and good then? Well no, I don't really like the ending.

Body language plays an important role in this courtroom drama about a teenager accused of murdering her best friend. A somewhat hypothermic psychodrama that could have used a bit more tension. Impressive debut by Mélissa Guers in the title role.
