After the umpteenth argument, Andy Moore [Christopher Denham] wants to put his wife Maggie [Louisa Krause] on her number. Through his boss [Derek Basco] he hires career criminal Kosco [Happy Anderson] to have her kidnapped. When Maggie is found dead, Andy sees an opportunity to cover his tracks when he discovers another Maggie Moore [Mary Holland] lives nearby. Sheriff Jordan Sanders [Jon Hamm] investigates the case and by chance comes into contact with local resident Rita Grace [Tina Fey], a potential witness with whom he begins a troubled romance. The story is unremarkable, but Bernbaum's screenplay turns it into something extraordinary. No character or situation goes as expected, and Bernbaum gives the characters' shortcomings an important role in the plot. That provides them with flesh and blood and often leads to comical situations, such as deputy sheriff Reddy [Nick Mohammed]. At least as important: it makes the plot unpredictable, making the denouement very satisfying.

Good film in which a detective investigates the murder of two women with the same name. An excellent and entertaining crime story. The characters are also entertaining. However, it is a bit unbalanced in terms of tone and the romantic sub-plot doesn't really work either.
