Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of Oasis. As Noel Gallagher rightly says in this documentary: all the fuss around it will be forgotten, it is the music that will stand the test of time. The many quarrels and scandals with which the quarreling opposites Noel and his younger brother Liam often pleased the British press are discussed, but fortunately this documentary focuses mainly on the period in which the boys struggled to get a job. There appears to be a lot of archive material from this period at hand and clever use is also made of animations, so that - just like in Amy, from the same makers - there are no talking heads. What is striking is that Noel and Liam are quite lenient about each other: they are aware of their own shortcomings and also realize that they needed each other to become so successful. The result is a brave [produced by both brothers] biography in which there is much to enjoy for the fans and which hopefully challenges the ignorant to listen to Definitely Maybe of Be Here Now.

Nice documentary about the early days of the band Oasis. A documentary consisting of almost exclusively archive material. Perhaps this is why it lacks some structure. Nevertheless, it looks easy (partly due to a smooth editing) and you get a good insight into the dynamics of the band at the time and where the success led. Easily 3.0 stars.

Excellent documentary, cleverly constructed from archive material, without the use of talking heads. Director Mat Whitecross wisely focuses on the band's early years; the documentary ends after the release of Oasis' second album, when its popularity peaked. All ups and downs are discussed, hilariously explained by both Gallagher brothers. An honest and lively document, full of good music, at least, if you like Oasis of course.
