I am a fan of the country Mongolia. Very few people live in a vast area, who are allotted on a limited number of means to sustain themselves. In the few major cities that Mongolia has, it is not much different from any other average city in Asia. This film manages to perfectly portray the contrast by means of the two sons, who are tossed back and forth between nomadic existence and urban life.

The simple plot/documentary about the camels also appealed to me. They are also very trendy animals . I take it for granted that the ending feels too fairytale-like and staged.

Documentary for curious people. A look into the daily life of a simple Mongolian family, whose lives are determined by the seasons and their animals, with whom they have an intimate bond. Unbelievable how the singing and playing of the violin brought mother camel and the rejected calf together. As if they were talking directly to the soul of the animal. I was staring at it open-mouthed . We have long forgotten how to communicate with animals, for those people it is a natural gift because they have always lived with nature. What a capricious beasts those camels. Mother camel really persisted in anger.
And yet Western culture (that television) also finds its way among them. I found the beginning on the slow side, but the last brilliant half hour more than makes up for it. Simple yet captivating.

Successful mix of documentary and feature film, constructed in a casual manner and completely believable. The story is not much and the pace is very slow, but the engaging characters and the beautiful images of the imposing Mongolian landscape ultimately provide an almost hypnotic viewing experience. Extra special when you realize that this was the graduation project of director Byambasuren Davaa.
