Least Eastwood I've seen after 14 movies. I always look forward to an Eastwood with certain expectations, but I didn't like this one. Promising in itself about the paranormal afterlife, but the plot lines didn't appeal to me and I found it rather forced. The three storylines are developed and come together in a somewhat bumbling way.

I thought Matt Damon was a bit of a miscast, but he will never be my favorite actor anyway. His story was however the most interesting of the three and especially the idea that his gift was a curse rather than a blessing was one of the few highlights. The opening scene in Thailand was also strong, especially technically. Too bad this story later collapsed. And the story of the twins did not interest me at all.

The movie is very predictable and the ending is clinical. On a certain level a decent film with no highlights. The readings also did not appeal to the imagination. A little disappointed though...

On the occasion of Clint's 90th birthday, I thought I'd catch up on the few films I hadn't seen of him yet. And this one was in between.

Solid craftsmanship, as always with Clint, calmly constructed and carefully worked out. But also three storylines side by side, and then wait and see if they all come together. Child's play for the experienced director, with some historical events interwoven as well. The tsunami is perhaps the most striking, but also the explosion in the metro.

Visually I find it a bit unattractive, it all comes across a bit hypothermic and colorless. Perhaps that is a conscious choice to emphasize the subject. To be honest, the story isn't very entertaining either, it drifts along to a somewhat uninteresting conclusion.

Perhaps as with the previous one - Changeling - I was a bit clairvoyant at the time that I dropped this film despite Eastwood's involvement. Because again this is clearly not my film.

So, this movie was better than I expected. Amazing how Eastwood finally brings the film together, which you could have expected for a long time. Each story is quite different, but their lives eventually come together. The story of the twins is quite intense mainly because I am a twin myself and losing your brother at such a young age must be really hard. Certainly at any age, but perhaps only twins fully understand that. The rise-and-fall story of Cecile De France is also quite captivating and that of Matt Damon certainly too.
