More than a nice film about a girl who has to live with two deaf parents. This mainly results in the girl having to constantly help her parents by translating things, which has a negative impact on her education. I agree with the others when it comes to imbalance. Jenseits der Stille regularly manages to strike the right tone, but at other times it goes wrong (that dance scene with Clarissa's ex, for example, really wrong). This causes the good feeling of the story to fade away every now and then. I also thought the first one was a bit stronger (also well acted by Tatjana Trieb); the second part looks a bit too much for 'moments'.

All in all, a nice story that deals with a fairly heavy theme in a pleasant way, so that it does not become too melancholy. Deserves a bit more attention here.

Very nice drama by Caroline Link with beautiful roles by Tatjana Trieb, Sylvie Testud and Howie Seago, who is also deaf in real life. The story has a number of intense moments, but it also fades away from time to time. Very nice scene at the snack stand to the music of "I Will Surive" by Gloria Gaynor.

Great movie.

It was mainly watching a young Sylvie Testud (Strange that only 5 years later she won a César for "most promising young actress" for the film "Les Blessures Assassines".)

Solid film that highlights the inconsistency of dealing with people who live in a completely soundless world.

If daughter Lara is still imbued with an artistic music career in which a loving, but introverted and suffering father because of his disability, sees her increasingly distant from him, this inevitably leads to the necessary tensions.

The film presents several strong scenes with solid acting, but unfortunately it cannot extend this over the entire length. There are also moments that lead to nothing, so the film often stalls on the spot and you have to wait for the next highlight.
