Out of the Fog plot

Faith Coffin's lover drowns and Faith confesses to her fanatically religious brother Job that she is pregnant. Job locks her up in a remote lighthouse. After the birth of her daughter Eve, Faith commits suicide and jumps from the lighthouse. Job raises Eve and keeps her away from any contact with other people. When she is twenty years old she comes into contact with a sailor and he kisses her. This evokes feelings in Eve and a while later she becomes acquainted with Philip Blake. Job locks Eve in the lighthouse and informs Philip that she is dead.
