The Family Man plot

"What if you made different choices? What if you said yes, instead of no? What if you got a second chance?"

The wealthy yup Jack Campbell has it well done. He has a spacious luxury apartment, a super fast Ferrari, a huge amount of money and he is still single. Then one morning he is awakened by… his dog, his two children and his wife in their ordinary house in a very ordinary neighborhood. Everything is suddenly different, very petit-bourgeois. His apartment suddenly no longer belongs to him, and they have never heard of him at work. Unexpectedly for him, however, it turns out that family life also has its attractive sides: love, romance, sociability and humor. He's getting more than his fair share of this and is already beginning to wonder if he really wants to go back to his old familiar fast-paced business world.

This film does indeed give the viewer a warm feeling and with that the atmosphere is very successfully created. The story holds up a mirror to the viewer and is therefore not very original. Still, it hits and Nicolas Cage puts in a good performance here. It is one of those films in which he shows his strong side (where, on the other hand, it is often less so). The story would have been more powerful if some scenes were shorter or unnecessary. All in all, a successful film.

Ode to the cozy and loving family life in this all in all successful romantic comedy.

It's not terribly funny (although, ask the childcare for a receipt...), but it remains charming and amused all the way through.

Nicolas Cage seems fit for a role that takes him from one surprise to the next.

“Old flames are like old tax returns... put 'em in the file cabinet for three years, then you cut 'em loose.”

Reasonable Christmas classic. The Family Man continues to be fun, especially because of Cage and Leoni's play and the sentimental story. Sometimes that sentimental and gooey stuff isn't bad at all, especially with a movie like The Family Man. The mood is right there, and every time he comes on television during Christmas I linger for a while.
