They all have a number from one to nine and can only be killed in that order. Number Four (Alex Pettyfer), aka John Smith, moves to Paradise, Ohio and befriends friendly photographer Sarah. Nice film, especially aimed at the youth, where you should not be too demanding. Somewhat predictable, but still not bad. Good pace, decent story, and enough action make the film enjoyable. It certainly could have been better, but I still didn't think it was a bad movie.

Nah.

It's hard to ignore... Twilight. A solid copy in everything. Based on a number of books, structured in several manageable parts, quickly made into a film. These kinds of series are often set up these days (Hunger Games), but they are not all equally successful. This is also the case with this film, because Numbers 5-9 are left behind.

But the setting and course of the plot are also almost exact copies. The small village, the hunkie teens, the love between the human girl and the strange boy... bit of action at the end. Replace the vampires with aliens and you really come a long way. However, with the comment that Twilight is still a step higher in terms of quality.

Effects are not good (especially at the end, those beasts were not to be seen), the bad guys are really lame and the acting is quite subpar. While there were still some internal conflicts with Twilight, this is just a basic good vs bad story with a very meager plot behind it (although the other parts were probably meant to deepen it).

In any case, I don't belong to the target group, even then I thought this was a very meager blueprint of the better films in this genre. It's good that the other parts have been put away for a while.

1.0*

“I play a lot of Xbox.”

Surprisingly fun. The story may sometimes feel a bit childish and it doesn't really get exciting, but that is more than made up for with pleasant acting and spectacular action scenes. Especially the younger guard is doing well and it's a shame that Teresa Palmer has such a small role. Because her spectacular entrance and sharp one-liners leave you wanting more. Leading character Pettyfer walks around a bit dazed, but he has a nice chemistry with Agron. All in all, I Am Number Four is a fine film with a good balance between a coming of age story and spectacular sci-fi elements.
