21 Years: Quentin Tarantino plot

"There will always be blood, brilliance and controversy."

The documentary takes a look at the first 21 years of Quentin Tarantino's career. Through conversations with frequent collaborators, as well as friends and fellow filmmakers, it is revealed what it is like to work with the writer/director and be part of his unique, but often controversial process. A process that has produced iconic films such as Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained.

It remains a feast to see the most beautiful scenes of Tarantino. But for the true enthusiast, this documentary adds little. I have heard almost everything that is told before in interviews on Youtube. A few details were nice to hear (about the clothing in Reservoir Dogs for example) but otherwise this documentary added little to my knowledge of the Tarantino films.

But the biggest drawback I found was that Tarantino himself does not speak. The man is a passionate speaker and can convey the enthusiasm about films like no other.

Nice to have seen. But if I dive into the Tarantino universe again, I'll grab an interview with the man himself.

2.5*

Watched this documentary once and it was interesting to see. Great to see all Quentin's famous films again. There were some cool tidbits in there. It could have taken a little longer, but it was worth watching.

Very entertaining, nicely put together documentary about the career of director Quentin Tarantino up to and including the film The Hateful Eight. Incidentally, without the participation of Tarantino himself, but those involved who speak fortunately have enough tasty anecdotes to compensate for this lack. For those who have a little knowledge of Tarantino's oeuvre, the documentary does not contain many new facts, but the documentary is so smooth and above all energetic that the attention does not slacken.
