Isaac in America: A Journey with Isaac Bashevis Singer plot
A unique and detailed character sketch of writer and Nobel laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer (1902-1991). Just a few years before his death, Singer looks back on his life and career. In this portrait it can be concluded that his personality is just as unconventional and unique as his work. In his office, which is full of diplomas and awards, he realizes all too well that his life could have turned out very differently. He was born in Poland, but fled to the United States in 1935 because of the threat of the Nazis. In America, however, he could also have starved to death if the Yiddish daily newspaper The Forward had not recognized his talent in time.
