AKA plot

"Lies are like wishes: tell enough of them... some of them come true."

Dean is trapped in a cruel world. He lives in a working-class neighborhood, has a father who sexually abuses him and a mother who is convinced she is the girlfriend of a wealthy family she works for. Dean flees the house, heading for Lady Gryffon, one of his mother's so-called girlfriends. After meeting them, Dean moves in with her, but is soon forced to flee after a rough run-up with the jealous son of the house: Alex Gryffon. Dean is at his wits' end until he meets the charismatic American Benjamin. He decides to go to Paris to look for work, and is forced to quickly assume the identity of Alex Gryffon.
