Edge of Darkness a mediocre movie. It's not bad, but it's not super good either. The story is fun to watch but has its sleep-inducing moments.

Mediocre.

Martin Campbell can present a nice film, but is also not the most steadfast director. His films sometimes fluctuate very far in terms of level. With Edge of Darkness he delivers a fairly anonymous film; such a typical weekday thriller. Without ever getting interesting, the plot reels itself off dutifully. The plot is not very startling and the added value of certain characters, such as Ray Winstone's, is nil. In any other respects, too, there is nothing that makes this rise above the gray mediocrity, but it must be the sparse moments of violence - they are a little more bloody than usual.
