I haven't seen any of the previous films.

I gave it a chance anyway.

But a movie should have a reasonable story, this movie has no story

Well strong of Noémie Merlant to play this role. But that is also the only positive point.

For those who are hesitating, just wait until it's on dvd or streaming services

The idea of making a remake of Emmanuelle (1974) was actually quite good. And what could have worked was a new film based on the first part of the series of books by Arsan - from which the original film had only picked up a few parts.

But this is neither - it doesn't get much further than 'loosely inspired by', and with a bit of venom you could argue that the only similarity is the spelling of the title. And worse than that, it's also just a really bad film in itself. Where the original wasn't a high flyer, it was at least an icon of its time, and to make this shoddy remake of it is simply a sign of incompetence, a mockery, an insult to the entire cast and crew who worked on the original.

Only the last few minutes seem to make sense, but even that is ruined. While there was an easy chance to eventually make a link to Arsan. Cowardice and a complete lack of respect from the creators, I really can't explain it any other way.

I don't think I've seen the films with Sylvia Kristel (completely), but this new product was certainly not very sparkling. Give me Babygirl (Film, 2024). Not that it was that high-quality, but at least there was something in it.

It wasn't so much Noémie Merlant's fault. She actually did a pretty decent job. The camerawork was also quite creative. Often suggestive, but equally open. Technically it was pretty good, without having to boast. However, I kept wondering what I was watching. There is no real plot to be found. Something with a mysterious man and the control over the hotel manager, but it doesn't go much further than that. The plot is the film's greatest weakness.

A meaningless and insignificant soft erotic film. Not something to get excited about. Too bad.
