Not exactly the type of film I'm looking forward to: I'm afraid of a documentary approach and the adjective 'boring' that comes to mind.
However, that turned out very well. And Solitaire is a nice combination of something like reality TV on the one hand, and a drama film on the other.

The reality part provides particularly beautiful images: especially the low position on the sailboat opposite the turbulent, rough sea creates an almost fearful feeling - and that is only seen on a small TV set; This will undoubtedly be a lot more impressive in the cinema.
There are also a lot of clichés involved, all in a row: the whale, the dolphins swimming along, the iceberg,..., but it doesn't bother anything: all those situations are nicely woven into the other story: the refugee who climbs aboard at a stop somewhere, and who puts the racer in a difficult situation.

Drama, tension, a portion of (telephone and digital) romance, a little bit of humor, and a slight political undertone: it's all there, and all those things make it an enjoyable and fascinating watch.

Towards 4*, until the last five minutes arrived: the happy ending was so completely emotional Hollywood - including the accompanying bombastic music - that the value of the film became the depth of the sea withdrawn.
Offenstein, how on earth did you get that into your head...

Great film work by debut director Offenstein (César nomination) about the stunt to sail around the world "en solitaire".
The nature images are beautiful, sometimes spectacular, and the presence of a stowaway (actually also his story) and an adventurous intervention (could be a little more of that), add the necessary tension, variety and emotion .
François Cluzet is also excellent in this role.

The film All Is Lost is much more minimalist with a completely different approach, and

the comparisons soon stop with this French film.

In En Solitaire (which concerns a sailing competition around the world) frequent contact

with the mainland (including his wife and daughter), while ultimately there

there is a young stowaway. The sailor (An excellent role by Cluzet) unexpectedly

puts you in a difficult position.

This results in, among other things, the predictable course of a gradual softening

towards the boy who initially relied on anger and a cool attitude for some time

Cluzet could count.

Plenty happens to keep the film going, including a rescue operation

from Cluzet, when a female participant's boat overturned.

The ending has a strangely clichéd happy ending and rather plays with uplifting

sentiment.

The film certainly does not avoid cliches, including that increasing friendliness

Cluzet to that boy. Which, for me, hardly detracts from the film.

Without really bothering me, I was carried away by the film quite easily.

Especially thanks to Cluzet's playing,
