Ok I'm not really a fan of Wenders. And not from Debie either. Well, from Vikander, but her storyline in this film actually seems a bit forgotten. McAvoy then, meh, his story is strong, but I also have some doubts about that - not that he is really bad, but is he the most suitable actor to play this role? perhaps it is mainly his fault that the romance with Vikander does not come across.

By the way, this is really another film that I don't really know what to do with it or what to write about - but it does contain a few very memorable scenes. Wenders and Debie will manage that.

Danielle Flinders [Alicia Vikander] is a marine biologist who conducts scientific research around the Faroe Islands. James More [James McAvoy] is a spy who pretends to be a colleague but is actually involved in rolling up terrorist networks. James is being held in a cell in Somalia on suspicion of espionage and Danielle is concerned about his absence. In flashbacks we discover how the two met each other, how their relationship developed, but also how James was arrested in Somalia. As a romantic drama this is certainly not bad, but the spy part seems to come from a completely different film. And there should have been no room here for the endless preaching about the future of our planet.

Fine.

A bit too vague of a love drama, where the contrast between the romance on the one hand and the jobs of those involved on the other remains a bit too great. Not that it's bad, on the contrary. I remained quite curious about the ending, but it was just a bit too flat. Lead actors Alicia Vikander and James McAvoy are quite okay, but Vikander certainly does not get to play the most challenging character. That's a shame, because I usually think she's very good.
