Waterloo Road plot
During World War II, Jim Colter from London is drafted into the army. Jim has to leave behind his wife Tillie, his mother and sister Vera. Lonely Tillie meets Ted Purvis and falls in love with him. It turns out that Purvis is a petty mobster, playboy and con man. Purvis has falsified his medical record to avoid taking part in the war. Jim finds out about the love affair through a letter from Vera and he returns home without permission to solve the case. Back in England, Jim is chased by the military police and molested by Purvis' gangster buddies. After his recovery, Jim goes after Purvis, but then there is a major air raid by the Germans.
