Seems like a parody. But that's not it, I believe.

Incredibly bad play by some very famous names. Sutherland in front of course, but JLC was also not that easy for me. Not that the story really gives the space to play a nice character role, but this raking is a bit very easy going.

The story isn't all that great either, it drifts a bit too much between the examples - ID, Deep Rising and Alien. But it doesn't even come close to those movies.

Nice action film with successful SF and horror elements. The film does start weak and I was especially bothered by the acting of Sutherland and Baldwin (who in my opinion is not an actor and makes the stupidest grimaces at the strangest moments) but gradually the story gets stronger. Of course there is a strong nod to Terminator, Aliens etc. but that's not really disturbing. I found the juggling of human flesh by the robots quite gross and entertaining. All in all a big enough, so 3.5 stars. And JL Curtis is an actress you know will never disappoint, even now. 3.5 stars

Re-watched again today, this time on a beautiful Blu-ray (the German/English edition)

It's a good and exciting movie, looks a bit like a Terminator on a ship, when you watch it for the first time it's very exciting and mysterious.

There is enough going on in the film, tension and action.

The cyborgs are nicely made too! Quite entertaining for this one and a half hour film.
