Director Christopher B. Landon continues his sharp eye for pure popcorn entertainment in his new mystery thriller, which is particularly notable for its modern visual approach. A way is constantly found to keep the film interesting in that regard, specifically by playing with letters on the screen or unique camera angles. It all looks solid and Meghann Fahy does an excellent job in the relatively complicated leading role that is assigned to her. An uneven finale and a somewhat dull villain throw a spanner in the works for a higher grade, but Landon at least justifies his success as a director with this new addition to his resume.

This was a really boring film like I've rarely seen. So annoying, unbearable. The biggest problem is the suspension of disbelief. That really didn't sit well with me. The date itself is so incredibly miserable that you, as a self-respecting single, would immediately put an end to it? Is she looking at her cell phone the whole time, running around, chatting with the barmaid for a bit, then going to the toilet for another fifteen minutes. Then she sits down with other guests and chats. She even sits down at the table with them, asks her date partner to wait a moment. It made me terribly nervous. That sister who gets shot in the shoulder from close range by a professional hitman? Come on... Those gangsters clearly have an endless supply of resources, why on earth would they go to all that trouble and not just whack the target in a different, much easier way? But the icing on the cake is little Toby, terribly acted by the way, who brings that gun with his toy car. That little guy has more trigger discipline than the average American.

It may well become unbelievable, but Drop is completely ridiculous from start to finish. As if that weren't enough, we're also stuck with a hyperkinetic bartender who would make customers gladly drink a poison shot to get rid of it.

I'll skip the next Christopher B. Landon. I've seen almost his entire repertoire now and only Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse scores better than this one.

A film with an intriguing premise: a grieving mother experiences her first date in years, which quickly turns into a nightmare.

Although the plot is sometimes a bit unbelievable, Drop remains a reasonable film that is worth watching for fans of psychological suspense.
