This series has my all-time favorite pilot. I was sold right away. I even watched that episode in black and white. Perfect combination of atmosphere, drama, action and tension. Unfortunately, things go downhill after that for the series.

Possibly the first series since The 100 that I'm watching again at a faster pace. Lately I have noticed that with series I have a hard time getting through the first season or even give up. Really 'addicted' has been a while and I wouldn't want to go that far with The Walking Dead, but season 1 is very promising.
Most importantly, the characters are interesting. Rick is a nice main character and the rest of the group also lays a nice foundation. They all remain a bit superficial, but I am very curious how they will develop in the following seasons. I see plenty of potential. At least there are no obvious disturbing characters in between. Of course there are always a few whirlwinds, but you need them to get things going. In terms of acting, I have nothing to complain about.
If I have to mention a downside, they are some striking improbabilities. I thought the main one was that Rick, who has finally found his family after all the misery, decides to leave them a day later. I understand that people want to show that Rick is very noble, but it came across as a bit comical. In the last episode, the logic seemed a little off. At the moment that Rick tries to enter the government building in a fairly noisy tone, a piece or two of zombies slowly come to watch... and that while the whole area is full of them. In previous episodes they show up when someone walks by. Call it nitpicking, but it stood out.
All in all - a few minor flaws aside - I thought it was a strong start. Not very good yet, but at least interesting enough to hold on to this series for a while.

Finally started watching this, after repeated advice from a good friend, we have a lot of the same taste in movies and series. But as contrarian I am, I rarely go into it directly. But they are not exaggerated, 1st season is already nice and cool, looks away very quickly. Apparently this is also the shortest season, the next ones go into the 20 episodes, hopefully of the same quality... or even better
