“Nobody cares about Clark Kent taking on the Batman.”

Watched the extended version and it really makes the movie better. Batman v Superman still isn't a masterpiece, but it's all a little less messy and rushed. However, the film still has some of the same strengths and weaknesses. The worlds of Batman and Superman are kept separate for a long time, resulting in a film lacking cohesion and coherence.

The same can be said about the acting and the interplay. Affleck is a strong Batman and Amy Adams a nice Lois Lane, but Cavill is lethargic and Eisenberg is forced and bloody annoying. Gadot (luckily she has rectified something with her solo film) is the best this film has produced, but like Fishburne, Irons, Lane and Hunter, gets too little to do. Zack Snyder clearly wants to impress with the action sequences, but it's either cluttered and uninteresting, or he comes up with his trademark (slow motion combat). The last major action scene seems to go on for ages and the monster is laughably bad CGI. Fortunately, the extended version makes the story come into its own and Batman v Superman is even an atmospheric and strong film at times.

The last Batman movies were great. I thought the last (and first I ever saw) Superman movie, Man of Steel, was pretty mediocre. And I think Superman is a totally uninteresting superhero anyway.

All in all, I didn't have very high expectations for this movie. But holy shit... what a worthless creation this is! The story is a mess; it's not really a story that takes you along... It's more like a few scenes in a row. It's not going anywhere and I didn't bond with any of the characters.

The latter is partly due to the mediocre cast. Amy Adams does a nice job, I think Cavill is a mediocre Superman (although he may not be able to do much about that; Superman is simply a boring character) and Affleck as Batman is not well cast. He's not bad at all, but he doesn't excel at all. And then Jesse Eisenberg... Unbelievable! I have rarely seen such a dramatic acting performance. Literally laughable.
