Well well.

Suddenly something completely different. Yates makes a much darker film here. I can really appreciate that, because previous films were dark compared to the first few parts, but it has not become as dark as this one.

The actors are doing better and the atmosphere is more there. Although it is more of a kind of build-up for the grand finale (the last part), it certainly remains smooth and entertaining. 146 minutes were just like previous parts. Best part of the previous six.

Good movie, very atmospheric. Maybe less magical, but hey, who cares. Not much more to add to the movie.

After the very mediocre Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Film, 2009) - MovieMeter.nl, this is part of a diptych and also the ending of the entire franchise is also an improvement. It has now also taken almost 6 years to watch the sequel. The last part won't have to wait that long now. Had to get back into it for a while, but after an hour I was able to go all the way again and it actually made the story even more fun and even the tension was increased a bit. The story of the three brothers (animated) and the finding of the sword are strong scenes and beautifully executed. 6.5/10

The most moving scene in the entire series is in this film, the death of Dobbie the House Elf, I dare say that it is one of the saddest death scenes I have ever seen on the silver screen. This time, too, the floodgates were opened wide again, so to speak.
Furthermore, with this film I had the idea that it is more or less a mishmash of previous parts: the humor from part 4, the action from part 2... The chase scene at the beginning, in which Harry rides a motorcycle with a sidecar in the tunnel dangles and runs over the top of an oncoming truck is so American weather.
Also the light humor in the Ministry of Magic, where the Nazis have taken over, as it were, I found somewhat misplaced and takes the tension out of it. A little seriousness wouldn't hurt.
Some parts are also quite slow. I would rather have seen 1 film that lasts about 4 hours, instead of 2 separate films.
