The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King plot
"The eye of the enemy is moving."
Hobbits Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin), along with Gollum (Andy Serkis), begin the final leg of their journey toward Mordor, to attempt to destroy the mighty One Ring. Saw the extended edition for the first time and I must say that it is a must. Almost shocking to find out what was cut out in the short version. A lot of important bits of character development are just left out.
In the added scenes, the quality of the special effects does deteriorate, which is logical because these scenes are not as fine-tuned as the scenes that made it to the cinema version. Still, it has to be said that this is a film from 2003 and it was therefore not only very expensive, but also very clever that Jackson made so many digital effects look so real. This is of course partly because there are also a lot of practical effects in the film.
There is still so much to elaborate on this masterpiece. But right now I don't have the time to really do it justice. Without a doubt the most epic finale of a trilogy ever.

Best part.
201 minutes flew by. I enjoyed this part so much. A personal favorite of mine and also the best of the entire trilogy for me. Great battles that are also perfectly portrayed and all last a nice long time.
Orcs being killed remains a fun factor I understand. They are so clumsy that nobody feels sorry for them if they are all shot, chopped or pierced with swords etc. Those elephants too, so nice! Simply delicious.
Remains a golden film for me, I was not bored for a second. Running time is very long, but the film manages to entertain every minute of the more than 3 hours. Highly recommended series.
