“You don't meet a girl like that every dynasty.”

Excellent animated film. Mulan has an interesting story and the animation looks great. The last part in particular is incredibly beautifully done, and a certain action scene in the snow is also fantastic. Mulan has nice supporting roles, but the lead actress herself is the film's greatest strength. A young woman who wants to save her father, decides to join the army under his name. And to fight against a mighty enemy. You don't need much more for a successful film.

A bit underestimated though. When I hear people in my area talking about Disney, this film is almost never mentioned. Still, I used to find him, and still do, very amusing. It is the first Disney animation that takes place in Asia and is therefore a bit of an odd one out. You see a number of Chinese customs that I didn't even know existed before. That didn't get in the way of the fun, though.

The animation takes some getting used to, but often beautiful. I especially like the character design of Shan-Yu, it is quite threatening. Quite a few nice side characters too, such as the cricket and Mulan's three buddies. Mushu can be funny in his own right, although I mainly see Eddie Murphy behind a microphone having a blast in a studio. However, it provides enough humor that is interspersed with some action.

The action is pretty decent, culminating in the Huns ambushed in the mountains. The strong music also plays a role in this. This also makes the moment when Mulan steals her father's armor a lot more catchy. I think I'm one of the few, but I think 'I'll Make a Man out of You' is one of the stronger songs in a Disney movie. Makes installation a lot better. Fortunately, the film is otherwise free of gossip or princess stuff. Also nice once.

Wonderful exciting Disney film that was way ahead of its time. In 2020 dream only had to make third new Mulan and so I was obliged to take a look at this old 22 year old from 1998. I like him just fine! Good story nice jokes and characters. The dragon played by Eddie Murphy and the little cricket are doing well and are just funny. I think we also see most corpses in a Disney film, albeit subtly portrayed. I also liked the transformation to man made up to the failed spitting. Of course there is an American sauce over it, but that didn't bother me. What did the Chinese themselves think? The traditional Chinese will not like this film except the Hongkongers who are much emancipated anyway.

No Mulan surprised me as one of the better Disneys with great songs, varied and not too much so that the story got all the space!
