Den Allvarsamma Leken plot
Stockholm at the dawn of the Twentieth Century: Lydia, the daughter of a painter and Arvid, a journalist at the beginning of his career, fall in love at first sight. However, the time is not yet ripe for their happiness. After the sudden death of her father, Lydia receives no inheritance. Arvid doesn't have a penny either, and thinking he has nothing to offer Lydia, he averts a marriage and they split up. Ten years later they meet again, both now married and with children. They begin an affair with unforeseen consequences.
